Saxon Flood Helper Order 2013

The 2013 Flood Helper Order of the State of Saxony was donated by the Prime Minister of the Free State of Saxony Stanislaw Tillich on the occasion of the flood disaster in June 2013 on July 12, 2013. The order is to be awarded to helpers who have provided help in Saxony for at least one day (24 hours).

The “Saxon Flood Helper Order 2013” consists of a silver-colored round medal. It is worn on a ribbon in the colors of the Free State of Saxony. The front of the order shows in the middle the coat of arms of Saxony with the inscription "Free State of Saxony - flood 2013 - you helped". The reverse shows the map of the Free State of Saxony with the river areas most affected by the flood. The medal has a diameter of 35 mm and a thickness of 2 mm. It will initially be produced in a first edition of 60,000 pieces. Instead of the medal, a miniature version can be worn, which is particularly suitable for uniform wearers.

On September 14, 2013, during a ceremony by Prime Minister Stanislaw Tillich in the Dresden Semperoper , the first flood helper medals were awarded to 400 helpers. The ceremony was broadcast on MDR television .

Another award ceremony took place on November 19, 2013 on behalf of 300 of the more than 5000 soldiers deployed in the Wettiner barracks in Frankenberg .

Another ceremony took place in Aue on November 27, 2013 . To this end, over a hundred firefighters and other helpers from the Erzgebirgskreis were honored.
