Singing rides

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Singer rides is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 41). The work was performed for the first time on June 19, 1847 on the occasion of a charity event in the Theater an der Wien with an orchestra increased to 70 people. The waltz is dedicated to the Vienna men's choir.

Remarks

With the waltz singer trips , the composer set a musical monument to the club outings (singers trips) of the Vienna Singing Society. At the same time, it was also a political statement against the Metternich system of the late Biedermeier period. The government was suspicious of the choral society and a commitment to this society was rated as political opposition. The waltz was one of the first works by Johann Strauss (son) for the choral society. But this was not yet a choral waltz, of which he was to compose a total of six over the years and decades.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 8 minutes and 25 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can vary by up to about a minute plus or minus.
