Separate

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A separate, secluded area in a bar or restaurant is called a chambre séparée or just a séparée .

This term is French, but does not appear in this use in French. In French the same room is called “cabinet particulier”. According to Wolf Graf Baudissin and Wilhelm Spemann, "the German says chambre séparée, while the French never use this expression, but only knows a chambre particulière" . Thus Séparée is a sham Gallicism .
