The Southern chuya-comb ( Russian Южно-Чуйский хребет ) is a mountain range in the Russian Republic of Altai in the central Altai Mountains .
The southern Chuja ridge runs in a west-east direction between the river valleys of Karagem and Chaganusun in the north and the Argut and its headwaters Jazator in the south. The mountain range has a length of about 120 km. The highest point is the 3936 m high Irbistu (Ирбисту) peak . The lower slopes are covered by steppe landscape. At higher altitudes, tundra , grassy areas and gravel areas emerge. The summit region is glaciated . The northern mountain slopes and river valleys are forested.
