The Sōma ( Japanese 相 馬氏 , Sōma-shi ) were a family of the Japanese sword nobility ( Buke ), which was derived from Taira no Masakado . With an income of 60,000 Koku , the Sōma residing in Sōma ( Fukushima Prefecture ) belonged to the larger Tozama daimyō of the Edo period .

genealogy

In 1611 Sōma Toshitane ( 相 馬利胤 ; 1581-1625), coming from Kodaka Castle, received the dilapidated Nakamura Castle , which he restored and established the Sōma-Nakamura fief . The family resided there until 1868. Honorary title Daizen no suke ( 大 膳 亮 , "Vice Director of the Large Table"). Then Vice Count .

The Sōma Nomaoi Festival ( 相 馬 野馬 追 祭 , Sōma nomaoi matsuri ), which is registered as an Important Cultural Asset, commemorates the time of the Sōma.
