SDI is a German speed metal band.

Band history

SDI was founded in Osnabrück by Black-Jack-Co. -Member Reinhard Kruse and the drummer Ralf Maunert in 1985. Then there was Franck Tiesing, the former guitarist of Black Jack Co. After the demo Bloodsucker in 1986, the debut album Satan's Defloration Incorporated followed , then in 1988 Sign of the Wicked . Franck Tiesing left the band in 1988 and was replaced by Rainer Rage, who can be heard on the 1989 album Mistreated . A music video for "Violence" was produced. After the subsequent tour, the band broke up in early 1991. In 1992 Reinhard Kruse recorded a number of songs for a fourth album with the help of Jürgen Uthleb (guitar) and Christoph Olbrich (drums). It was to be called "Looking good". With this line-up SDI played some concerts in Northern Germany. However, after the hoped-for success did not materialize, SDI separated in 1992. Reinhard Kruse, Ralf Maunert, Bülent Sendallar and Stefan "Phøn" Goedereis founded Ingjenøre in 2002 .

In 2005, Battle Cry Records re-released all SDI albums, including recordings for the fourth, unreleased album.

In 2013 the website www.sdi-metal.com and the YouTube channel "SDIMetal" were created as SDI Video Channel. Since then, live videos of the band have been released at regular intervals. In December 2014 the band posted a rehearsal room video of "I don't care" from the debut album Satan's Defloration Incorporated on the new band website and announced their first joint appearance with the original line-up (Ralf Mauert, Rainer Rage, Reinhard Kruse ) for the "Metal Assault V" festival in Würzburg on January 31, 2015. With this line-up, SDI played numerous concerts throughout Europe before Christoph Olbrich took over the drums again in 2016. After many other appearances, which also took the band to Japan, Rainer Rage left the band for health reasons. Daniel Haverkamp took over the guitar from then on. This line-up continued touring and in December 2017 the "Ballrun" demo with 3 new pieces was released.

In 2020 the new SDI album " 80s Metal Band " was released on MDD Records. 4 videos were produced for the new album (80s Metal Band, Freeride, Action, I hate you). Daniel Haverkamp left the band after the release show in Kassel. Chris Friedl took over the guitar on the subsequent European tour. In March 2020, SDI was the last band on tour in Spain when the global corona pandemic struck on Friday, March 13, 2020 and initially put an end to all live activities.
