SAPARD

The Special Accession Program for Agriculture and Rural Development ( SAPARD for short , German Special Accession Program for Agriculture and Rural Development ) was one of three instruments of the European Union to support the accession preparations of the candidate countries in Central and Eastern Europe. It was established in June 1999 and focused on agriculture . It was last used in Bulgaria , Romania and Croatia .

The SAPARD program was replaced on January 1st 2007 by the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA).
