SBB Re 10/10

As Re 10/10 or Re 10 , formerly Super Traction is a double unit , consisting of a Re 6/6 and a Re 4/4 II , Re 4/4 III or Re 421 of the Swiss Railways designated. The designation Re 10/10 is used both within SBB and by the specialist press. The top speed is up to 140 km / h , depending on the Re 4/4 model . The Vst IIId system is used as a multiple control .

This double traction is used almost exclusively for freight traffic on the Gotthard route and the Lötschberg - Simplon line. There it is not limited by its performance, but by the durability of the coupling hook, which can only withstand 1,300 tonnes on the Gotthard's maximum gradient of 26 per thousand.
