SBS 9 is a Dutch commercial broadcaster and, along with NET 5 , SBS 6 and Veronica, belongs to SBS Broadcasting , which is completely in the hands of Talpa Media . The TV channel is primarily aimed at a female audience and mainly shows TV shows, films and reruns from the other TV channels that are part of SBS Broadcasting.
In 2013, SBS Broadcasting announced plans to launch a fourth television channel targeting women. The then managing director of SBS Broadcasting, Remko van Westerloo, announced in September 2014 that the station would be called SBS 9 and that it would start broadcasting in January 2015.
