The SDK insurance group comprises the three cooperative insurance companies Süddeutsche Krankenversicherung a. G. , Süddeutsche Lebensversicherung a. G. and Süddeutsche Allgemeine Versicherung a. G. , each based in Fellbach near Stuttgart, which are under joint management and, since 2005, have also had a uniform external appearance.
history
The SDK was founded in 1926. At the time, farmers were excluded from statutory health insurance. Therefore Johannes Hummel founded the "Voluntary Health Insurance of the Agricultural Main Association Württemberg and Hohenzollern eV", today's South German Health Insurance (SDK). At the same time as the health insurance, the death benefit of the main agricultural association Württemberg and Hohenzollern was launched; It later becomes Süddeutsche Lebensversicherung.
When compulsory insurance for farmers was introduced in 1972, the SDK lost most of its members. But she had taken precautions: An amendment to the statutes opened the company to all professional groups. In 1978 SDK merged with "Erzieherhilfe Krankenversicherungsverein aG", which brought a sister company into the group with "Erzieherhilfe Hausratversicherung aG"; this formed the core of today's Süddeutsche Allgemeine Versicherung.
The three-time Olympic champion and 16-time world champion Anni Friesinger has been a brand ambassador for the SDK since the beginning of 2011.
In 2013, as a subsidiary ,heilwerker eG was founded, a registered cooperative for corporate health management (BGM).
South German health insurance
The SDK is a partner in the cooperative financial network of the Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken. In Germany, sales are also carried out via brokers and multiple agents. Since January 2009 there has been a close cooperation with the mhplus health insurance company. A total of around 800 people work for Süddeutsche Krankenversicherung, of which around 550 work in the office and 250 in the field. The SDK has around 634,000 insured persons with a premium volume of approx. 811 million euros (all three SDK companies) (as of 2013). Across Germany, the SDK ranks 15th among private health insurers in terms of premium income.
The SDK offers private full and supplementary insurance. The range of supplementary insurances ranges from supplementary dental insurance, supplementary hospital insurance and many other supplementary insurances to supplementary long-term care insurance. In the area of supplementary long-term care insurance, since the beginning of 2013 the SDK has also been offering a state-subsidized subsidy tariff as part of the so-called "Pflege-Bahr".
Ratings
Süddeutsche Krankenversicherung was awarded the grade A + very good by the Cologne rating agency Assekurata in November 2013 . In 2013, the Assekurata career rating, also carried out by Assekurata, gave the SDK a very good rating. For several years now, the SDK has achieved the top grade very good in Assekurata ratings.
In 2014, the FOCUS Money SDK was once again awarded the title "Fairest private health insurer" with the grade "very good".
The SDK's private care tariffs received good reviews in 2013. The financial test gave "PFLEGE privat" a grade of "good" (2.2). Witte Financial Services tested two tariff combinations of the SDK and awarded each one the rating "GOLD".
South German life insurance
SDK Leben has an insured sum of around 1.7 billion euros and premium income of around 55 million euros. The SDK Leben offers various types of insurance in the area of life and pension insurance: occupational disability insurance, private pension insurance, endowment life insurance, term life insurance and company pension schemes.
Ratings
In 2004 the SDK Leben received the grade very good in the Assekurata rating . In 2010 it received the "mm" seal of quality and the silver medal in the rating of German life insurers (map report). In 2013, the SDL was given the top grade A + very good in the Assekurata rating. In 2013, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung for the life insurance companies of Süddeutsche Lebensversicherung a. G. Acquisition costs determined at 3.0%.
South German General Insurance
The SDK Allgemeine generated premium income of 926,000 euros in the 2013 financial year and a surplus of 40,000 euros. Süddeutsche Allgemeine Versicherung has been offering accident insurance since 2004 as a supplement to the health insurance offer of the SDK.
SDK Foundation
The SDK Foundation was established in 2007. The purpose of the foundation is broad. Science and research, environmental protection, health care, art and culture, education and training and charitable causes are funded. The foundation is currently focusing on three projects:
- On December 1, 2009 the SDK Institute for Health Economics was founded. The institute and endowed chair are part of the Steinbeis University in Berlin . The purpose of founding the institute is to strengthen health economics and the still young but increasingly important field of health services research . Since 2009, the SDK Institute for Health Economics has organized the SDK symposium on current topics from health economics, health economics and health policy every year. Since 2013, the SDK Foundation has been publishing a thematic booklet entitled SDK Perspectives, which deals with relevant topics from the foundation and insurance sector in two editions per year.
- The SDK Foundation also supports the aid organization Doctors of the World
- The third project supported by the SDK Foundation is the Tour Ginkgo.
