criticism

Criticism of the announced course in homeopathy

DOCMO audiatur et altera pars 12:01 PM, Jun 26, 2020 (CEST)

At the beginning of 2014, the university came under nationwide criticism after it had announced that it would start a bachelor's degree in homeopathy at the Homeopathy Academy from September 2014 via a Steinbeis Transfer Institute in Traunstein . Critics speak of a "disgrace for Bavaria as a science location". According to the Society for the Scientific Investigation of Parosciences (GWUP), the course is “simply an academic fraudulent label” that “gives a pseudoscience higher degrees”.

According to science journalist Christian Weymayr , the course is a "training school for alternative practitioners", which is "glossed over, upgraded" with an academic coat. They speak "from the master and bachelor of university of academically '", they would "all the serious studies, are committed which scientific standards and are based on normal universities, discredited." The assessment of the physician Edzard Ernst to be “Does not even meet the minimum of critical thinking and academic seriousness”. Such courses are "extremely regrettable - they devalue the Bachelor of Science in all other areas and have nothing to do with 'science'". A petition was sent to the Berlin Senate, which is responsible for the university, against the accreditation of the course.

At the beginning of April 2014, Spiegel Online published that the planned course would not be introduced after all.

Accreditation of the master’s course in criminalistics

DOCMO audiatur et altera pars 12:01 PM, Jun 26, 2020 (CEST)

In November 2015, three years after the start of the course, the Master’s course in Criminology (MA) in Berlin did not yet have the necessary accreditation from the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Science . Accreditation in Berlin should take place after the start of a course. It was only at the beginning of 2015 that the university tried to get accreditation. This accreditation was suspended by the responsible agency due to many shortcomings. If a course is not accredited, no new students are allowed to begin it. The start of the Master’s degree in Criminal Investigation 2015 has been postponed to March 2016. The Master’s course in Criminal Investigation had been advertised in recent years by the Bund Deutscher Kriminalbeamter (BDK) and the German Society for Criminology .

The course was accredited by the Accreditation Council on March 8, 2016 . The Baden-Württemberg Evaluation Agency granted the program accreditation retrospectively, which has therefore been effective since the start of the master’s degree in 2012.
