The SRH Hochschule Berlin (formerly OTA Hochschule ) is a private , state-recognized university in Berlin founded in 2002 .
history
The entrepreneur Erman Tanyildiz initiated the first steps to establish the university in 2000, and in 2001 a concept was presented to the state governments of Berlin and Brandenburg. The university was officially recognized in 2002 by the Senate Department for Science, Research and Culture in Berlin.
In 2005 the university moved to Ernst-Reuter-Platz. The FIBAA accredited the two Bachelor courses in August and one month later Rita Süssmuth took over the presidency. In September 2005 the first students graduated from OTA University with a Bachelor of Arts . From 2005 to 2009, Izzet Furgaç was vice president of the university. The university has been accredited by the Science Council since 2009 .
In 2006, teaching for the first master’s course “International Strategic Management” began at the university. The master’s course was accredited by the AHPGS in September 2008 .
In November 2007, the private education provider SRH bought the university and renamed it SRH Hochschule Berlin . The new managing director was Christoph Glaser, who was replaced by Kai Metzner in March 2010.
In January 2010, the previous President Rita Süssmuth was succeeded by the new President Peter Eichhorn . As Honorary President, Rita Süssmuth is still connected to the university.
Since September 2012, the Dresden School of Management (formerly: SRH Hotel-Akademie Dresden) has been part of the SRH Hochschule Berlin as the Dresden campus.
In February 2013 the university opened its new seminar building on the campus at Ernst-Reuter-Platz. In October 2014, Victoria Büsch took over the office of President, replacing Peter Eichhorn after four years in office.
As of October 1, 2015, the SRH Hochschule Berlin took over the courses of the BEST-Sabel-Hochschule Berlin . In 2017, the SRH Hochschule Berlin opened their own start-up center, the SRH Start-up Lab Berlin, together with the Berlin SRH sister universities design akademie berlin and hdpk .
Together with the two SRH sister universities design akademie berlin and hdpk , the SRH Hochschule Berlin was transferred to the newly founded sponsoring company SRH Hochschulen Berlin GmbH in 2017.

The SRH Hochschule Berlin has been part of the SRH, a provider of educational and health services, since 2007. It operates private universities, educational centers, schools and hospitals. With 13,500 employees, SRH looks after more than one million educational customers and patients a year and generates sales of almost one billion euros. The parent company is SRH Holding (SdbR), a non-profit foundation based in Heidelberg.

Accreditation / rankings
In the CHE ranking in the 2010/11 winter semester, the bachelor's degree in business administration was rated in the top group of universities of applied sciences with seven out of thirteen possible points in the “International Orientation” category.
In the 2013/14 winter semester, the university received top marks in 4 out of 5 categories. In the categories of “overall study situation”, “studyability”, “supervision by teachers” and “international orientation”, the SRH University of Applied Sciences Berlin ranks in the top group. It is rated as good in the “Practical Orientation” category.
In 2010/2011, at 30.3%, the university had the highest proportion of students with foreign citizenship in a nationwide comparison.
In 2016, the institutional accreditation of the SRH Hochschule Berlin was extended by the Science Council from 5 to a maximum period of 10 years.
