The SRH Holding (formerly Stiftung Rehabilitation Heidelberg ) is a private foundation under civil law (SdbR) based in Heidelberg .

The foundation is the parent company of a group of several subsidiaries that are active in the health, education and social sectors. The SRH includes private universities, general and vocational schools, training centers for further education and professional rehabilitation as well as hospitals and rehabilitation clinics.

The SRH is a member of the Diakonisches Werk of the Evangelical Church in Baden .

history

The foundation goes back to an initiative of the Protestant workers' union in Heidelberg, out of which on September 5, 1955 the association Stoeckerwerk e. V. took place. The aim of this association was initially to retrain war invalids , and later to rehabilitate the disabled. In addition, dormitories for workers and student workers were operated.

The goals of the association were specified with the establishment of the Heidelberg Professional Development Foundation on February 4, 1966. The goal of the foundation was to operate facilities for the comprehensive rehabilitation of physically handicapped people. On January 1, 1971 the name was changed to Stiftung Rehabilitation Heidelberg ; its initials SRH were retained as a name abbreviation even after the company had been restructured several times in the following decades.

The foundation rehabilitation foundation was transformed into a group with legally independent subsidiaries and various company holdings through an amendment to the articles of association on November 1, 1995, and the purpose of the foundation was expanded to include the provision of health, education and social services. This was also reflected in the new name change to SRH Holding on April 15, 1999 , combined with the renaming of the Board of Trustees to Supervisory Board.
