history
In 1858 the facility was built as the Neresheim Hospital. The number of beds grew from 20 in the founding year to 68 in 1958. In 1983 the capacity shrank to 24 beds and on February 28, 1993 the Ostalb district ceased operations of the hospital. SRH bought the building and invested DM 11.7 million in expanding it into a specialist hospital. The state of Baden-Württemberg provided 9 million DM.
After the establishment of the Rehabilitation Clinic Neresheim gGmbH on March 1, 1993 (shareholder: SRH Kliniken AG, based in Heidelberg), hospital operations began in January 1995 with 30 beds and the first patients were admitted. In 1999 a modern neurosurgical operating room was installed, in 2007 the SRH invested two million euros in the expansion of an intensive care unit , which opened on May 15, 2007 with 12 additional beds. In spring 2013, the Ministry of Social Affairs approved six additional beds for early rehabilitation.
