Bachatango

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bachatango is a combination of the two music and dance styles Bachata and Tango .

Dance style

Bachatango develops the Bachata dance from the Dominican Republic with elements from the Argentine tango . The typical basic structure of the bachata is retained in the bachatango: In four-quarter time , three steps are optionally followed by a tap emphasized by hip swing - or the tap opens the four-step sequence.

In the representation of the dance figures, the dancers in Bachatango take up typical elements from tango. These so-called decorations include, for example, the “media luna” (crescent moon): the woman draws a crescent moon with a dancing leg. Another ornament is the quadriga, a step also known from tango. Rotary figures and gancho tours are also transferred to the Bachatango.

Genre

The dance steps of the Bachatango follow a music that is commonly known as Neotango or Tango Nuevo . She became known in 1985 through the hit music "I've Seen That Face Before" by actress and singer Grace Jones , who interpreted the classic "Libertango" by Astor Piazzolla and combined tango with modern electronic elements. Current representatives are for example the groups Gotan Project or Narcotango .

distribution

Bachatango is already widely danced in Italy . In Germany , the style is being developed. Some dance schools offer lessons in dance form.
