The SRH Klinikum Karlsbad-Langensteinbach is an acute and specialist hospital located southeast of Karlsruhe at the foot of the northern Black Forest . It is located in the district of Langensteinbach in the municipality of Karlsbad . The hospital is an academic teaching hospital of the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg.

Medical treatment

Around 34,000 patients are treated there each year, around 20,000 of them as outpatients. The facility employs around 1,000 people. The clinic is managed by the managing director Jörg Schwarzer, the medical director Andreas Eichler and the nursing director Romana Bacevic. The SRH Klinikum Karlsbad-Langensteinbach is a member of the Quality Medicine Initiative , which includes over 330 municipal, non-profit, public, international and private hospitals as well as numerous university hospitals in Germany , Austria and Switzerland .

An important medical focus is on the treatment of complex spinal diseases and deformities of the spine, such as scolioses or kyphosis . Further medical focuses are neurological, vascular medical and mental illnesses. The clinic manages its own health and nursing school .

history

In mid-November 1964, the excavation work began for the special hospital for rehabilitation and the chronically ill planned on behalf of the Langensteinbacher Höhe Bible Conference Center . The first part of the hospital with 75 beds was opened on April 20, 1968, and the entire hospital with over 350 beds on November 6, 1968. The total cost of the construction at that time was 27.6 million German marks. On October 1, 1970, the hospital was taken over by the new institution "Berufsförderungswerk Heidelberg". It was now called "Southwest German Rehabilitation Hospital Langensteinbach". Three more buildings had been completed by 1977. In addition to the new main building, a swimming pool, a sports hall and physiotherapy rooms were built. During this time, the dormitories were also built, which are still available to trainees, relatives and patients today. The Karlsbad Hospital has been operating under the name SRH Klinikum Karlsbad-Langensteinbach GmbH since 1996. Another ward building was inaugurated on October 19, 2001. In July 2011 the new central admission with integrated emergency care was opened. This also included the completion of a new helipad on the roof of the hospital. The hospital has had a cardiac catheterization laboratory since 2016 . The EOS full-body scan has been used in the clinic since 2017, which enables a 3D full-body display of bone structures in a natural posture with reduced radiation exposure.
