Alaholfinger

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Alaholfinger (also Ahalolfinger or Bertholde) were a family of the Swabian nobility in the time of the Carolingians with property mainly on the upper reaches of the Neckar and Danube . The Alaholfinger also act as officials in Bavaria, Franconia and Italy, and are Margraves of Friuli and Counts of Verona there .

The best known are the Swabian ahalolfings Palatine Berthold and his sons Erchanger and Berthold, in the year 917 were executed after Erchanger the title of Duke of Swabia obtained and then against King Conrad I had asked. In the case of these younger Alaholfingers, however, it is not clear how they are related to the other family members.

There is uncertainty about the continued existence of the Alaholfinger. Sometimes it is assumed that they became extinct in the male line in 973 , and sometimes it is believed that the Zähringer originated from a branch of the Alaholfinger.
