The SRH University of Popular Arts (hdpk), formerly: hdpk University of Popular Arts , is a state-recognized, private university of applied sciences in the Schöneberg district of Berlin . It is located in the administration building Potsdamer Straße 188–192 .

history

The SRH University of Popular Arts was founded in 2009 and started its university operations in the 2010 winter semester. The institutional accreditation by the Science Council followed in 2015. In April 2014, hdpk GmbH was taken over by a new sponsor: SRH Holding . The university's supervisory authority is the Berlin Senate Department for Education, Youth and Science.

In the offer, the ZEvA accredited undergraduate degree programs event and music management, management in digital media , journalism - and PR management, communication design , interaction design , popular music , Creative Industries Management , motion design , music production and audio design , and the two Masters courses in Media Psychology and Experiential Communication prepare students for their future work in the cultural and creative industries. The bachelor's degree in creative writing and copywriting has also been offered since the 2018 winter semester.

The university organizes the open air hdpk festival every year.

courses

All bachelor's degree programs include a seven-semester course with 210 credit points (quantitative comparative value for university degrees in Europe, 1 credit point corresponds to 25 to 30 working hours during the course of study). The degree takes place as a state-recognized Bachelor of Arts (BA) except for the popular music course, where a Bachelor of Music (B.Mus.) Is acquired. In detail, the following courses are offered:

The SRH University of Popular Arts (hdpk) offers a total of four master’s courses, leading to a Master of Arts (MA) degree:

  • Media Psychology , MA, consecutive full-time course, 4 semesters, 120 credit points
  • Experience communication , MA, (in cooperation with the Berlin Career College of the Berlin University of the Arts): 4 semesters, 120 credit points
  • Computing and the Arts, MA, (in English), 4 semesters, 120 credit points
  • Creative Industries Management, MA, (in cooperation with the SRH Fernhochschule - The Mobile University), 4 semesters, 120 credit points

Board of Trustees

The university's board of trustees consists of personalities from political, social and economic life. It advises the university and, together with its management, contributes to further development. Members are:

  • Michael Ernst-Pörksen, COX tax consultancy and trust company
  • Dirk Erchinger, musician and owner of the Drumtrainer Berlin music school
