The Psychological University Berlin (PHB) was founded in 2010 by the Professional Association of German Psychologists and is housed in the House of Psychology at Köllnischer Park in Berlin-Mitte . It was officially recognized by the Berlin Senate for Education, Science and Research as a private university on May 5, 2010 and started teaching in the 2010/2011 winter semester . The institutional accreditation by the Science Council took place in January 2018.

  • Bachelor in Psychology (undergraduate degree from winter semester 2020/21 polyvalent in accordance with the reformed law on psychotherapy training), degree: Bachelor of Science, prerequisite: university entrance qualification
  • Master in Psychology (undergraduate degree), degree: Master of Science, prerequisite: Bachelor in Psychology
  • Psychotherapy (behavioral therapy) with license to practice as a psychological psychotherapist, degree: Master of Science, prerequisite: Master of Psychology
  • Psychotherapy (psychotherapy based on depth psychology) with license to practice as a psychological psychotherapist, degree: Master of Science, prerequisite: Master of Psychology
  • Psychotherapy (systemic therapy) with license to practice as a psychological psychotherapist, prerequisite: Master in Psychology
  • Family psychology with integrated training in child and adolescent psychotherapy (psychotherapy based on depth psychology), degree: Master of Science, prerequisite: Master of Psychology
  • Legal Psychology (advanced course), degree: Master of Science, prerequisite: Master in Psychology

The postgraduate courses are aimed at graduates of a Bachelor, Diploma or Master course in psychology. The family psychology study program is also aimed at graduates with a diploma or master’s degree in education and social education. These entry requirements are based on the Psychotherapists Act . A numerus clausus is not levied. In selection interviews, students should be selected who best fit the academic profile of the PHB. Applications for the courses are always possible.

Some degree programs at the PHB can be completed part-time. In the training courses in psychotherapy (behavioral therapy) and psychotherapy (depth psychology-based psychotherapy), the PHB offers the opportunity to acquire a European-wide recognized master's degree with training as a psychological psychotherapist (license to practice).

Based on the scientist-practitioner model, the PHB combines scientific training with strong practical relevance. Professors are active in both scientific research and psychotherapeutic practice.

University outpatient clinic

The Psychological University Berlin (PHB) is a private university and a state-recognized training institute for psychological psychotherapists. The psychotherapists in training (PiA) completed a university degree before starting their training. In the advanced stage of training, the PiA begin treating patients under the supervision of experienced colleagues. The specialty of the psychotherapeutic outpatient clinic of the PHB is the offer of two psychotherapeutic procedures: psychotherapy based on depth psychology and behavior therapy. The costs are covered by the statutory health insurance.
