Swiss Society for Health Policy

The Swiss Society for Health Policy (SGGP) is an association founded in 1976 which sees itself as an independent platform for health policy and the health system. The SGGP is a member of the Swiss working group for patient interests SAPI.

aims

The association is committed to

  • that the health system is seen and treated as a whole
  • that fundamental, overarching and medium and long-term problems are addressed at an early stage
  • that health policy aspects are increasingly taken into account in the other sectors of our public life
  • the personal responsibility and private initiative remain an important part of health policy
  • that measures to quality promotion become an important part of the health policy are
  • that the opinions, interests and rights of patients and the public are given due consideration
  • that necessary reforms and innovations are introduced in good time
  • that the funds used for the health system are used effectively and rationally.

Members

The SGGP has around 1050 individual, collective and benefactor members. 41% of the individual members are women. Membership is open to any person or institution interested in health care . The office is in Bern.

Central Board

The Central Board consists of 17 members, including:

  • President: Jean-François Steiert
  • Vice-president: Philippe Lehmann, Yvonne Ribi and Regine Sauter.
  • Managing director: Charles Giroud

Health Policy Information GPI

This quarterly information medium has been published since 1977 with around 45 pages. The editorial team systematically evaluates specialist books and magazines, daily and weekly newspapers and the Internet. The topics cover the entire healthcare system in Switzerland and in selected countries.

Series of publications

By September 2019, 136 volumes on the Swiss health system and health policy and health economic issues in general had appeared in the SGGP series of publications .

Meetings

The SGGP regularly organizes national and regional conferences, since 1976 more than 240.
