Coordinates: 49 ° 45 ′ 44.5 ″  N , 8 ° 38 ′ 3.3 ″  E The State International School Seeheim ( SISS for short) is the international school branch of the Bergstrasse school village . It consists of an elementary school (the primary ) and a secondary school (the secondary ) for pupils from the 5th grade. Most of the lessons are in English. The school is the only public one

not privately run international school in Germany, d. H. Students do not pay tuition fees (as is common in private schools), and one of three state secondary schools that offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program for grades 11 and 12.

history

The primary branch was opened in 2006, followed by the secondary branch in 2010. In 2016, the first class was able to achieve the desired degree, the International Baccalaureate .

Awards

In 2007 the school was awarded the Germany - Land of Ideas prize.

Secondary

The "SISS Secondary" offers the international General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in the 10th grade , which corresponds to the international secondary school leaving certificate , but the curriculum is partly based on the British curriculum. The International Baccalaureate is offered in the 12th . For 8th grade students, the checkpoints are available as a learning control under test conditions.

Others

  • As part of the school village, the school takes part in the Jugend forscht competition every year.
    • In the 2015 competition year, four teams from the school achieved 1st place in the regional competition.
    • In the 2017 competition year, a team from the school achieved 2nd place in the Hesse state competition.
    • In the 2019 competition year, two teams from the school qualified for the state competition Jugend forscht in Hessen, as well as one team for the state competition Students experiment in Hessen.
  • In 2015, the school's students were trained for the Olympic Games at the national competition .
