SL-System means fast charging system and is the name for a special 35mm film system on cameras from the GDR .

system

In the GDR they wanted to bring a camera similar to the Kodak Instamatic system on the market, with which a layman could change the film without any major fuss. The Agfa Rapid system was taken over after Agfa phased it out after 1970 and, due to the great success of the Kodak system , also offered Instamatic films under license.

In the GDR, on the other hand, Instamatic aroused no interest because of its expensive disposable film cassette. However, the scanning of the film speed that was present in the Agfa Rapid cartridge was not implemented, so that the system selected actually corresponded to the previous system of the Agfa Karat cartridge. However, the SL cartridges were made of plastic.

Movies

Like the Rapid, the SL cartridge also contained around 60 cm of film with which one could take twelve pictures in the format 24 mm × 36 mm. The film was made by Orwo . There were black and white films NP 15, NP 20, and NP 27; the daylight slide films UT 18 and UT 20, the artificial light slide film UK 17 and the color negative film NC 19.
