SLA monitor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An SLA monitor (SLA stands for Service Level Agreement ) is a network component that monitors the availability of a service with the help of regular polling . If there is no response from the checked service within the response time defined in the service-level agreement, the service is assessed as having failed.

SLA monitors can not only check individual services for availability, but also initiate complex business processes to check their availability. In addition, data from network monitors can be included.

If the failure of a service or business process is detected, an administrator is also informed so that he can analyze and correct the problem. The result of the test is also saved in an operations database so that it can be evaluated at a later point in time.
