The diesel-electric locomotives of the series BB 63400 of the French state railway SNCF were delivered between 1959 and 1960. They are a substructure series of the BB 63500 and, like this one, universal locomotives.

They were made by Brissonneau & Lotz in Paris ; the diesel engine was obtained from the Société Alsacienne de Constructions Mécaniques from Mulhouse .
