SPARC64 VI

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The SPARC64 VI (code name Olympus ) is the dual-core processor version of the SPARC64 V (code name Zeus ). It can execute a total of 4 (SPARC64 V: 2) threads in parallel, consists of 540 million transistors (SPARC64 V: at least 191 million), measures 20.38 mm × 20.67 mm (SPARC64 V: at least 18.1 × 16.0 mm), is manufactured in a 90 nm process and consumes up to 120 watts (SPARC64 V: at least 40 watts). Each core has its own 2 × 128 KByte L1 cache , as well as an additional 128 KByte address cache for jump predictions , both cores also have a 6 MByte L2 shared cache (SPARC64 V: at least 2 MByte).

In July 2008 the SPARC64 VII (code name Jupiter) with 2.7 GHz was released. This is the four-core version of the SPARC64 V. The SPARC64 VII should be bus- compatible with the SPARC64 VI.
