SPECI

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In aviation, a SPECI is a separate weather report that is published in the event of major weather changes at the airport to which the forecast applies. The structure and content of the SPECI essentially correspond to those of METAR messages. Like a METAR , the SPECI always contains the ICAO code of the airport that created this SPECI and the time of observation. In addition, wind direction , visibility , temperature , air pressure , cloud formation and other information can be included. A SPECI is published in addition to the METARs , which are updated every half hour , if one or more of these parameters change significantly within a short period of time.

The distinction between METAR and SPECI is made using the identifier METAR or SPECI at the beginning of the weather report.
