SS-Untersturmführer
The SS-Untersturmführer (short: Ustuf ; address: Untersturmführer ) was the lowest officer rank of the Schutzstaffel (SS) in the German Reich , which would be comparable to today's lieutenant . The original name in the NS ranks was SS-Sturmführer; It was not until 1935 that the name in the SS was changed to SS-Untersturmführer.
The illustrations show the badges of rank or rank badges that were worn as shoulder pieces and collar tabs , but also as sleeve badges from 1942 for camouflage or special suits. The collar tabs with SS runes and the badge of rank were worn on the field gray uniform jacket of the Waffen SS or the gray field blouse.
Ranking and insignia
This SS rank was on an equal footing with the SA Sturmführer and the lieutenant at the time .
According to today's NATO rank code , these ranks would be comparable to OF-1 ( en : Officer ). The backing of the shoulder pieces was held in the weapon color specified for officers of the Waffen-SS .
