The SSV Nümbrecht (officially: Spiel- und Sportverein Homburg-Nümbrecht e.V. ) is a sports club from Nümbrecht in the Oberbergischer Kreis . The first soccer team played for a year in the highest amateur league in the Middle Rhine region.

history

In the spring of 1919, a football department was established from the Niederbernbach youth club. This took on the name SpV Homburg-Niederbernbach a short time later . On September 1, 1945, the association was re-established under its current name. The Nümbrechts win the Oberbergische Kreismeisterschaft in the 1945/46 season and thus qualified for the Rheinbezirksliga , the then highest amateur league on the Middle Rhine. From this, the team descended in 1947 in the district class and in 1960 said goodbye to the district class. A strange situation arose three years later. Although the district class season was not yet over due to the weather, the table leader TuS Wiehl was reported by the district association for the promotion round to the district class. At the end of the season Wiehl and Homburg-Nümbrecht were tied on points and the Nümbrecht won the playoff for the district championship at the end of July with 3-0. Nevertheless, the Wiehlers rose. It was not until 1970 that SSV Homburg-Nümbrecht was promoted to the district class. In the meantime slipped to the district league B, the team succeeded in the promotion to the district league A in 2007. Promotion to the district league in 2012 was followed three years later by the leap into today's national league.
