SWICO

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Swico (abbreviation for Swiss Business Association for Information, Communication and Organization Technology ) is a Swiss business association based in Zurich .

Swico is the trade association for the ICT and online industry and represents the interests of companies and startups in politics, business and society. Its more than 650 member companies employ 56,000 people and generate annual sales of 40 billion francs. They cover all stages of the value chain of digital business models and include in particular hardware, software, hosting, IT services, consulting, digital marketing and communication. In addition, there are strongly digitally oriented industries such as home electronics, the photo, film and printing industries.

Swico operates the national take-back system for discarded electrical and electronic equipment from the IT, entertainment electronics, office, communication, graphic industry, measurement and medical technology sectors. The recycling fee included in the purchase price finances the collection, transport and professional dismantling of the devices and disposal of the pollutants.

Zurich politician Judith Bellaïche has been Managing Director of Swico since May 2019 .

Welcom to Sodom

Swico complained about a 10vor10 contribution in August 2018 . In the broadcast, the newly released documentary Welcom to Sodom was presented, which, however, rightly gave the impression that electronic waste from Switzerland also ends up in the electronic waste landfill in Agbogbloshie .
