Sa-Nur (1978)

Sa Nur ( Hebrew שא-נור) was a Jewish settlement in the northern West Bank with around 150 inhabitants, which was evacuated in August 2005. The settlement was founded in 1982 and was located in the Samaria region between Nablus and Jenin . The other three settlements in the West Bank that were evacuated in August 2005 were Kadim , Ganim and Khomesch . While the evictions of Kadim and Ganim were peaceful, violent clashes broke out between settlers and Israeli forces in Sa Nur .

When three settlers were killed by Palestinians in the neighboring settlement of Khomesh during the Second Intifada , the 24 families who lived in Sa Nur left the place and went to Israel. Two weeks before the so-called evacuation of the settlement - actually meant is the destruction - radical settler groups launched a call to come to Sa Nur. This call was followed by around 650 settlers who fought for several days with the Israeli armed forces.
