Adolfo José Valencia Mosquera (born February 6, 1968 in Buenaventura ) is a former Colombian football player .

Career

At the beginning of the 1993/94 season , FC Bayern Munich signed the Colombian, known by the nickname El tren ( The Train ). He made his Bundesliga debut on August 7, 1993 (1st matchday) in a 3-1 home win over SC Freiburg , to which he scored two goals (2-0 in the 15th and 3-0 in the 24th minute ) contributed. After 25 appearances and eleven goals, he finished the first season and became German champions with FC Bayern. In the second season he was only used once: On August 27, 1994 (3rd matchday) with the substitution in the 59th minute in the 3-0 home win over Borussia Mönchengladbach , his engagement with Bayern and Germany ended.

National team

Valencia made their debut on July 31, 1992 for the Colombian senior team , who beat the USA 1-0 in Los Angeles . He took part in the World Championships in 1994 and 1998 and was used six times. In the first tournament he scored his only World Cup goals in the preliminary rounds against Romania (1: 3; on June 18) and against the USA (1: 2; on June 23). He played his last game in the 2-0 defeat by England on June 26, 1998 in the last group game of the 1998 World Cup in France.
