The Saaltor is a listed city ​​gate in Alsleben (Saale) in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

It is located at Burgstraße 22 and 22a at the southern end of the historic Alsleber old town and spans Burgstraße . Immediately north of the gate, Grabenstrasse joins Burgstrasse from the west .

Architecture and history

The simple building that is preserved today dates from the second half of the 18th century. The upper floor is built in half-timbered construction. The building is covered by a mansard roof .

The Saaltor is the only preserved gate of the Alsleben city fortifications and is therefore of great city-historical importance. In terms of urban planning, the hall gate is of particular importance as it characterizes the southern access to the old town.

In the monument register for Alsleben (Saale) , the city gate is registered as a monument under registration number 094 60008 .
