Bag brood

The sacbrood , also called Schiffchenbrut, is a disease of the honeybee . It is caused by the bagbrood virus .

It is noticeable in the larvae that die before the stretching stage and lie on the cell floor like a bag (highly infectious) filled with brownish liquid. With the help of a pair of tweezers you can lift these "bags" out of the cells. After the "sachets" have dried out in the cells, a scab shaped like a boat (not infectious) remains in the cells.
