Sacrarium

A sacrarium ( Latin for sacred place ) was the room of the house altar in Roman private houses; in the broader sense also a synonym for temple or sanctuary.

In Christianity the word received different meanings. Here it means:

• the sacristy
• the treasury for the church treasure
• a drain in the sacristy that leads into the ground, see Piscina (church)
