Saeko Hirota

Saeko Hirota ( Japanese 広 田 佐 枝子 , Hirota Saeko ; * after 1944) is a former Japanese table tennis player . She became world champion in doubles in 1967.

Career

Saeko Hirota had her first success when she was involved in winning the gold medal for the Japanese team at the Asian Youth Championship. In 1967 she won the doubles title at the Asian Championships for adults with Sachiko Morisawa and with the Japanese team.

In 1967 and 1969 she took part in a world championship. At the 1967 World Cup , in the absence of the Chinese athletes, she won gold in doubles with Sachiko Morisawa , and she was also world champion with the team. In 1969 she reached the final in mixed with Mitsuru Kōno and the semi-finals with the team.

In 1969 Saeko Hirota was ranked 23rd in the ITTF world rankings .
