Sachiko Morisawa

Sachiko Morisawa ( Japanese 森 沢 幸 子 , Morisawa Sachiko ; * around 1945) is a former Japanese table tennis player . In 1967 she became world champion in singles, doubles and team competitions.

When she first took part in a World Cup in Stockholm in 1967 , which China did not play, Sachiko Morisawa first won gold with the Japanese women's team. Then she became world champion in singles by winning the final against Naoko Fukazu (Japan). Together with Saeko Hirota (Japan), she won the doubles title. Thanks to these successes, she managed to jump from eighth to the top in the ITTF world rankings .

At the next World Cup in 1969 in Munich, she could not defend a title. With the team she was third, in doubles she was eliminated in the quarterfinals. In the first round she lost to the outsider Pauline Piddock , who was only number five in her home country England.

At the Asian Championships ( Asian Championship TTFA ) she won the doubles competition with Saeko Hirota and also the team fights in 1967 . A year later she came in doubles (with Toshiko Kowada ) and also with the team in the final.
