Marie Kettnerová
Marie Kettnerová (born April 4, 1911 in Prague , † February 28, 1998 in London ) was a table tennis player from Czechoslovakia . She became a six-time world champion.
Between 1932 and 1950 Kettnerová took part in 11 world championships , where she won a total of 23 medals. She won in 1934 (victory in the final over Astrid Krebsbach ) and in 1935 (before Magda Gál ) the title in singles and in 1936 in doubles (with Marie Šmídová ). In 1935, 1936 and 1938 she was team world champion with Czechoslovakia. The title of 1934 meant the first gold medal from a woman from Czechoslovakia.
She won silver medals at the 1935 World Cup in doubles with Marie Šmídová and in mixed with Stanislav Kolář , at the 1937 World Cup in mixed with Stanislav Kolář, at the 1939 World Cup in mixed with Václav Tereba and with the team at the 1939 World Cup. With the German Annemarie Schulz made it to the semi-finals of the 1938 World Cup .
Kettnerová was characterized by an offensive game with very hard hit forehand balls. She was inducted into the ITTF Hall of Fame in 1993.
