ITTF Hall of Fame

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ITTF Hall of Fame is a virtual room that houses representatives of table tennis who have made an outstanding contribution to the sport of table tennis. They are mostly table tennis players, but also officials. Prerequisite for a table tennis player is to win at least five gold medals at world championships or Olympic Games or Paralympics . A gold medal as a team supervisor (non-playing captain) is also one of them. However, in individual cases, athletes with fewer than five gold medals were also included.

"... to recognize and honor players who distinguished themselves by their outstanding play and contribution to the sport of Table Tennis throughout the world."

history

In 1991 the introduction of a Hall of Fame for table tennis was proposed to the world association ITTF for the first time . The American Jimmy McClure took up this idea, and in 1993 the ITTF Hall of Fame was established.

Every two years the ITTF advises on new admissions during the World Championships.

  4. The inclusion was decided in 2010. Since Arnold was absent from the World Disabled Championships due to a knee injury, the recording was made up for the 2011 Bavarian Disabled Championships in Munich.
