Daniel Arnold (born December 16, 1978 in Augsburg ) is a German table tennis player . By 2011 he won three gold medals at the Paralympic Games , five titles at world championships and eight titles at European championships for the disabled.

Career

Daniel Arnold plays because of the shortening of both arms and the right leg in disabled sports in competition class 6, and occasionally also in competition class AB for "general handicapped people". He started playing table tennis at the age of seven at the TSV Merching club. From 1995 he started with the disabled. He switched to BSV Munich, where he plays with the disabled. In addition, he has been playing in a non-disabled team at Post SV Augsburg since 1999 . Since 1999 it has been number one in the world rankings for several years.

  • 2002 World Cup in Taipei (Taiwan): Gold in the team (with Dieter Meyer and Rainer Schmidt ), third in the individual (defeat in the semifinals against Dieter Meyer)
  • 2003 DM in Offenburg: 1st place single, 2nd place double (open class with Peter Fenn)
  • 2003 European Championship in Zagreb (Croatia): Gold in the team, silver in the individual

Honors

In 2011 Daniel Arnold was inducted into the ITTF Hall of Fame . The admission had already been decided a year earlier at the World Disabled Championships in South Korea. Since Arnold was absent there due to an injury, this was made up for at the Bavarian Championships for the disabled in Munich in 2011.

  • 2006: "Best Player of World" of all damage classes by the World Association for the Disabled

Daniel Arnold is a freight forwarder by profession. He lives in Merching .
