Tong Ling

Tong Ling ( Chinese  童 玲 , Pinyin Tóng Líng ; born July 13, 1962 ) is a former Chinese table tennis player . She was one of the world's best players in the 1980s and won the World Cup four times .

Tong Ling is a defensive player and plays in shakehand style. She has been nominated four times for world championships . In 1981 she became world champion in singles and with the Chinese team. However, insiders suspect that the final win over favorite Cao Yanhua was ordered by the Chinese management by the stable. She defended the team title in 1983 and 1985 . In 1981 she won silver in doubles with Pu Qijuan and in mixed with Chen Xinhua . Also in 1983 she reached the final in mixed with the same partner. Until 1986 she was part of the Chinese national team.

In 1988 Tong Ling came to Germany and joined the Bundesliga club TSG Dülmen . With this team she won the European ETTU Cup in 1990/91 . In 1992 she married a Chinese man and moved to Australia.
