The saemann was a monthly newspaper for members of the Reformed Churches Bern-Jura-Solothurn that had existed since 1885 .

It was published by an association of the same name. It included around 150 of the 231 Bernese parishes who used the saemann as an official information carrier and had subscribed to it for their members. The editorship was legally independent and had editorial freedom. At times, however, the individual congregations had their own page for club notices, times of worship, obituaries, short sermons and the like.

The name of the newspaper referred to Jesus' parable of the sower ( Mk 4.1–9.13–20  LUT ). It was published in November 2004 with an edition of 286,773 copies.

In May 2008, the newspaper was reformed into the church magazine of German and Rhaeto-Romanic Switzerland with its own Bern editorial team under the leadership of Martin Lehmann at the time . , integrated.
