SafeSeaNet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The SafeSeaNet (short SSN , long form system of the Union for the exchange of information for the safety of maritime traffic ) is a platform for the exchange of maritime data between the maritime authorities of the EU member states as well as Norway and Iceland with the aim of preventing environmental pollution and accidents Lake.

As a common monitoring and information system for shipping traffic, it is intended to overcome the difficulties in the exchange of information caused by the differences in data collection procedures and systems in European ports. SafeSeaNet is managed by the European Maritime Safety Agency ( EMSA ).

The heart of the SafeSeaNet architecture is the SafeSeaNet XML Messaging System, through which the connected authorities receive information almost in real time . The receiving stations of the automatic identification system ( AIS ) form a data source . The SafeSeaNet also contains information about the past of a ship (accidents, pollution, etc.).

SafeSeaNet is constantly being developed. Decisions about technical changes are made at working meetings ( SSN workshops ) that are coordinated by EMSA. The information exchange that is specified by EU Directive 2002/59 / EC takes place through SafeSeaNet. This directive has been amended by Directive 2009/17 / EC.

For the Federal Republic of Germany, this task was ensured by the central reporting system for dangerous goods and shipping . The National Single Window has been doing this since June 2015 .
