ZMGS

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ZMGS ( Central Reporting System for Dangerous Goods and Ship Traffic of the Federal Republic of Germany ) served as the reference system for the EU SafeSeaNet . The aim was to prevent pollution and accidents at sea. When it was implemented from June 2015, it was replaced by the National Single Window .

General

The EU member states are obliged to ensure the safety and ease of shipping at all times. Should an accident occur despite all the safety precautions , it must be possible to compile all the relevant information for the rescue measures quickly and efficiently. Information is then required about the ships involved and their cargo - especially about dangerous goods .

For the Federal Republic of Germany , this task was ensured by the ZMGS. A web-based information portal was available to the appropriately authorized users . In addition, the ZMGS system transmitted all ship and cargo-related information from the German sea area to EU-SSN .

Legal background

With the ZMGS system, all requirements of the EU directive 2002/59 / EC "On the establishment of a joint monitoring and information system for shipping" by the Federal Republic of Germany have been met. This EU directive followed the requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
