The Arabic-language magazine Saḥīfat Dār-al-ʿUlūm ( Arabic صحيفة دار العلوم, DMG Saḥīfat Dār-al-ʿUlūm  , "The Journal of the House of Sciences" ') was published from 1934 to 1947 in Cairo . It was founded by Sayyid Qutb (1905–1966), a well-known Egyptian writer, poet and critic, who is considered one of the most important thought leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood , as well as Sa'd al-Labban and Muhammad Ibrahim Jabr . After training as a teacher, Qutb graduated from Dār al-ʿUlūm University in Cairo in the year the magazine was founded . In terms of content, the editors put their focus on the "latest educational, social and linguistic theories" and pursued the goal of competing with the reputation of al-Azhar and the Egyptian University through their intellectual Islamic orientation and their demands on students . Qutb published his articles in addition to the Saḥīfat Dār-al-ʿUlūm in other journals of various ideological orientations, including ar-Risala and aš-Šuʿūn al-iǧtimāʿīya .
