Said Atthoumani

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Said Atthoumani ( Arabic سعيد التوماني; also: Attumani , born) was a Comorian politician.

Atthoumani served as Minister of the Interior in the État Comorien (Comorian State) in 1975 when the Comoros gained independence. However, he lost his position when Ali Soilih seized power. On May 13, 1978, Atthoumani supported a coup in which Soilih was deposed.

Atthoumani led the interim government as politico-military directorate until May 23, 1978, until the two men who had financed the coup returned to Moroni from Paris . Former President Ahmed Abdallah (who had been deposed in 1975) and former Vice President Mohamed Ahmed took power from Atthoumani, who formally handed them over, and set themselves up as Joint Presidents, renaming the state République Fédérale Islamique des Comores (Federal and Islamic Republic of Comoros). Soon after, Abdallah was named the sole president (executive).

Moreover, little is known about Atthoumani. He came from a political family and was the nephew of Said Mohamed Jaffar (سعيد محمد جعفر), the Chairman of the National Executive Council of the Comoros (August 1975-3 January 1976).
