The Lycée Saint Joseph de Tivoli is a French private school in Bordeaux ( Gironde department ). It is one of the oldest schools in Bordeaux that still exists today. The headmaster is Michel Grac.

history

Saint Joseph de Tivoli was founded by Jesuits in 1752 as a follow-up school to the Collège de la Madeleine . The current building in the Caudéran district was inaugurated on May 31, 1931. After the war, 636 boys attended the facility, girls were only accepted from 1977. In 2002 the number of students was 1,867.

The Jesuit tradition

According to the Jesuit tradition, the school includes classes from the École maternelle , the École primaire , a Collège and a Lycée with the Baccalauréat in the directions of littéraire (literature and philosophy), scientifique (natural sciences) and économique et social (social sciences). The emphasis is also on teaching living languages . The institution therefore offers international exchange programs to Germany, Spain and the United States. The Jesuit educational goal, which promotes openness to others, mutual sharing and exchange, has also taken on the task of the Tivoli Sans Frontières (TSF) association, which was founded in 1988 and which every year allows schoolchildren to help villages in Burkina Faso develop help by building schools and health centers.
