Saint-Nicholas Cliff Lift (also Lift to the Beach or Lift to the Town ) in Scarborough was the shortest funicular in the world at just 31 meters .

history

The Saint-Nicholas Cliff Lift opened on August 5, 1929. It was closed in January 2007 and in August 2011 it was announced that it would probably not reopen because the cost, which would amount to £ 445,000, could not be raised to make the railway safe again.
