The Wolfsberger Hütte is an Alpine Club hut of the Wolfsberg section of the Austrian Alpine Club (ÖAV). It stands on the Saualpe in Carinthia at an altitude of 1850 m above sea level. A.
The hut is managed in summer. The winter room is located around 60 m south of the main building. There are enough blankets and mattresses in the attic of the adjoining building to enable an emergency stay. For a planned stay on the ground floor of the adjoining building, which is equipped with a stove and four beds, contact must be made with the section.
history
The hut was built between 1909 and 1912 and served as accommodation for the anti-aircraft defense of the German Air Force from December 1943 . It fell victim to an arson attack in October 1944 and reopened in 1950. In 1987 it was renovated for the 75th anniversary. In 1994 a utility room was added. In 2005 the hut was renovated again.

Approach
The shortest approach is from the Offnerhütte , which can be reached by car, in about an hour.
Tours from the Wolfsberger Hütte
There are some worthwhile peaks to be reached from the hut. The Ladinger Spitz ( 2079 m above sea level ) can be reached in 45 minutes, the Gertrusk ( 2044 m ) in around 75 minutes and the Große Sauofen ( 1895 m ) in around 45 minutes. The Zingerle Kreuz is located near the hut and can be reached in a quarter of an hour.
The Wolfsberger Hütte is also an important base on the Eisenwurzenweg , a long-distance hiking trail that crosses Austria from north to south.
