Siegelsdorf is a place in the Lavant Valley in Carinthia . He belongs to the cadastral municipality of Thürn in the municipality of Wolfsberg . At the 2001 census, Siegelsdorf had 200 inhabitants.

The place is located about five kilometers southwest of the city center of Wolfsberg on the western edge of the Lavant valley . The 480 m above sea level The Reisberger Bach flows through it.

history

Siegelsdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1184.

Buildings

The village is dominated by Thürn Castle , which is privately owned. Originally built as a Gothic castle, the residence was converted into a palace with a Renaissance character under a lord von Eibiswald around 1580. On the southern slope below the castle there is an old vineyard in which wine is still grown today. The corbels, staircases, beamed ceilings, the drawbridge gate and the remains of Gothic wall paintings are worth seeing.

The baroque church in Siegelsdorf , which is consecrated to St. Nicholas , was burned down during a Turkish invasion in 1480, then rebuilt and completely rebuilt in the 17th century. The high altar dates from the 17th century and shows a carved group with a crucifix, Mary and John. The Siegelsdorfer Church is a branch church of the parish of St. Marein .
