The Roman Catholic branch church Siegelsdorf is in the village of Siegelsdorf ( Wolfsberg municipality ) at the foot of the Saualpe . It is consecrated to St. Nicholas and belongs to the parish of St. Marein in Lavanttal . The previous building of the church was destroyed during a Turkish invasion in 1480 .

Building description

The church is a baroque building from the middle of the 17th century. The presented west tower has a pointed helmet. The arched door of the tower vestibule is crowned by a blown gable with an obelisk . The interior of the nave is structured by pilasters and a surrounding cornice. A barrel vault with stitch caps rises above it . The three-axis west gallery lies on a groin vault on octagonal pillars. The drawn-in choir with a straight end has a groin vault .

Facility

On the high altar from the late 17th century there is a crucifixion group with Mary and John . The statues of saints above the sacrificial passage portals date from the 19th century. The oil paintings of the two side altars from the first half of the 18th century show Saints John Nepomuk and Franz Xavier . The church also features a canvas epitaph from 1613.
